1564 - Adams was born in Gillingham, Kent, England on September 24, 1564.
1576 - Became an apprenticed to Nicholas Diggins, a shipyard owner, at Limehouse.
1588 - Served in the Royal Navy under Sir Francis Drake as the master commander of the resupply ship.
1598 - Became a pilot major at the age of 34. He set sail from Rotterdam on board the ship Hoop.
1600 - After a dreadful experience at sea, Adams and his crew arrived at Japan. He was the first Englishman to setfoot in Japan.
1620 - Adams died at Hirado, Nagasaki on May 16, 1620 at the age of fifty-six.
