Adams, James "Grizzly" (John Capen "Grizzly" Adams)

1807 - Adams was born in Medway, Massachusetts on October 20, 1807.

1827-1850 - Spent his life in the mountain, living freely with the animals and capturing them for zoos.  He had a bear companion named Ben, who died in a zoo that Adams opened in San Francisco.

1860 - Adams died of meningitis while on tour with P.T. Barnum on October 25, 1860.
