1899 – He was born on the 23rd of March in Slovenia.
1913 – He emigrated to United States, and finally settled in the Croation
(Republic of Croatia) fishing community of San Pedro, California.
1918 – He became a naturalized citizen.
– He worked as a heavy worker and then at a Slovenian daily newspaper.
1932 – He received an award of the Guggenheim Fellowship.
1934 – He achieved national acclaim in America with his book "The Native’s Return".
1940 – He served as the editor of the magazine Common Ground.
1949 – He was a corresponding member of the Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts.
1951 – He died on the 4th of September.
