1889 - First published article, LoZeh ha-Derech (This is Not the Way)
- Disagreed with those advocating mass settlement in Palestine
- Believed that what was needed was not “a state of Germans or Frenchmen of the Jewish race”, but a cultural center where “the creative faculties of the nation” would imbue ghetto Jews with pride
- After World War I, he emigrated to Palestine and worked to create this cultural hub without impinging on the rights of the Arabs
