1907 - Born on September 17th in St. Paul, Minnesota. American judge.
1931 - Graduated with honours from St. Paul (now William Mitchell) College of Law.

1955 - He was nominated by President Dwight D. Eisenhower to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia.
1956-1968 - Burger's generally conservative approach during his 13-year service on the nation's second highest court commended him to President Richard M. Nixon
1969 - Became the 15th chief justice of the United States.
1986 - Burger retired from the Supreme Court to devote himself full-time to the chairmanship of the commission planning the bicentennial celebration of the U.S. constitution.
1988 - He was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
1995 - Died on June 25th in Washington, D.C.
