Bruce, William Cabell(W. Cabell)
1860 - Bruce was born in Staunton Hill, Virginia on the 12th of March .
- He received an academic education at Norwood High School and College in Nelson County, Virginia.
1882 - He later attended the University of Virginia and graduated from the University of Maryland School of Law.
- Bruce was admitted to the Maryland bar the same year and commenced law practice in Baltimore, Maryland.
1918 - Bruce was a writer, and received the distinguished Pulitzer Prize for his biography of Benjamin Franklin.
1894 - Bruce began his political career in the Maryland State Senate.
1896 - He was appointed as president of the Senate.
1903 - He served as head of the city law department of Baltimore.
1903-1908 - He served as a member of the Baltimore Charter Commission.
1910 - He served as general counsel to the Public Service Commission of Maryland.
1916 - Bruce was an unsuccessful candidate for the Democratic nomination for United States Senator.
1928 - Bruce was defeated in the next election by Republican Phillips Lee Goldsborough, and resumed the practice of law in Baltimore.
1946 - He died on the 9th of May in Ruxton, Maryland, and is buried at St. Thomas’ Episcopal Church Cemetery in Garrison, Maryland.
