1949 - Born in Syros, Greece.
1970 - Graduated at the University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor's degree in Architecture.
1973 - Graduated at the University of Oregon with a Master's degree in Creative Writing.
1975 - 1999 - She is the author of 7 books of poetry, collected in RAVE: and 4 books of translations of the Greek Nobel Laureate poet Odysseas Elytis, collected in EROS, EROS, EROS, as well as a CD recording of parts of the above, called Olga Broumas: A Reader's Companion.
1976 - Her fist work, "Caritas", an unbond collection of five broadsides declaring one woman's love for another, was published. Her book "Beginning With O" was chosen as the seventy-second winner of the Yale Younger Poets Prize.
1977 - She was selected by Stanley Kunitz for the Yale Younger Poets Series.
- The first non-native speaker of English to receive this award. Other honors have included a Guggenheim Fellowship and a fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts.
1978 - Received a fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts.
- Taught at different colleges and universities.
1981 - Received a fellowship from Guggenheim.
- Took time out to learn how to play jazz saxophone and to practice and develop bodywork skills as a tool for healing and self-expression.
- Founded and taught at a school for female artists called Freehand, Inc.
1995 - She has been Poet-in-Residence and Director of Creative Writing at Brandeis University.
