1935 - Born on the 16th day of February this year in Detroit, Michigan.
1954 - Married his first wife, Donna Rankin on the 3rd day of November, and they had a daughter named Christine.
1960 - Began his music career working for the legendary record producer Phil Spector as a promotion man, percussionist, and "gofer."
1962 - He and Rankin were divorced this year.
1969 - He and Cher had a daughter, Chastity Bono, on 4th of March.
1971-1977 - Starred in a popular television variety show, The Sonny and Cher Show, which ran on CBS.
1975 - Six years later, he and Cher divorced.
1984 - Once again he married Susie Coelho.
1986 - Married again to the much younger Mary Whitaker. The couple had two children, Chesare and Chianna Marie.
1992 - He ran unsuccessfully for the Republican nomination for U.S. Senate.
1994 - Elected to the U.S. House of Representatives to represent California's 44th District.
- He introduced the controversial Sonny Bono Copyright Term Extension Act during his tenure to benefit the music industry.
1998 - He died on the 5th of January because of injuries after striking a tree while skiing on the Nevada side of the Heavenly Ski Resort that was near South Lake Tahoe, California.
