1897 - Patrick Maynard Stuart Blackett was born on the 18th of November.

1921 - He graduated from Cambridge University.

         - He was appointed to the Order of Merit and made a Companion of Honour.

1940-1941 - Blackett served on the MAUD Committee.

1947 - Introduced a theory to account for the Earth's magnetic field.

1948 - He was awarded the Nobel Prize for Physics, for his investigation of cosmic rays.

1953-1963 - He was appointed Head of the Physics Department of Imperial College London.

1965-1970 - He became the President of the Royal Society.

1969 - He Created a life peer as Baron Blackett, of Chelsea in Greater London.

1974 - He died on the 13th of July.
