1931 - Donald Barthelme was born 7th of April in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
He studied at the University of Houston, and then wrote articles on culture and art for the Houston Post.
Director of Contemporary Art Museum in Houston, writing what he called "hack" pieces on the side.
1962 - Moved to New York City to take up writing full time and began publishing stories in The New Yorker.
1964 - He wrote Come Back, Dr. Caligari.
1966 - He was awarded by Guggenheim fellowship.
1971 - Time Magazine Best Books of the Year list for City Life.
1972 - National Book Award for children's literature for The Slightly Irregular Fire Engine or the Hithering Thithering Djinn.
- Morton Dauwen Zabel Award from the National Institute of Arts and Letters.
1976 - Awarded by Jesse H Jones Award from Texas Institute of Letters for The Dead Father.
1982 - Donald Barthelme wrote the Sixty Stories.
1983 - Barthelme authored Overnight to Many Distant Cities.
1986 - Barthelme worked for the Unspeakable Practices, Unnatural Acts.
1989 - Donald Barthelme died 23rd of July.
