Scottish dramatist and novelist
1860 - Born on the 9th of May in Kirriemuir, Angus Scotland.
Received his formal education at the Glasgow Academy and the University of Edinburgh.
Became a journalist in Nottingham, then London, and turned to writing novels and subsequently plays.
1891 - Wrote Ibsen's Ghost, a parody of Henrik Ibsen's drama Ghosts.
1901-1908 - Wrote for the theatre including Quality Street, What Every Woman Knows (1908), and The Admirable Crichton (1902).
1909-1911 - Involved in attempts to challenge the censorship of the Lord Chamberlain over play production in London.
1924 - He specified that the copyright of the play should go to Great Ormond Street Hospital in London.
1937 - Sir James Matthew Barrie died 19th of June.
