British (New Zealand-born) short story author.

 

1888 - Born on the 14th of October in Wellington, New Zealand.

 

1898-1899 - Published stories appeared in the High School Reporter and the Wellington Girls' High School magazine.

 

1902 - She moved to London where she attended Queen's College, London.

 

1909 - Katherine suffered a miscarriage that possibly brought on by lifting her trunk off the top of a wardrobe.

 

1911 - wrote collections "In a German Pension" 1911, "Prelude" 1918, "Something Childish" 1924

 

1918 - Mansfield began writing the works she would become best known for "Miss Brill," the bittersweet story of a fragile woman living an ephemeral life.

 

1922 - Published The Garden Party.

 

1923 - Died on the 9th of January because of a fatal pulmonary hemorrhage and was buried in a cemetery in the Fontainebleau District in the town of Avon.
