1927 - Born in Brooklyn, New York on the 26th of December.
1947 - King married Jeanette Sprung.
1950 - King played small roles in movies, but disliked playing stereotypical roles that he described as "always the sergeant from Brooklyn named Kowalski.
1961 - Was the MC for President John F. Kennedy's inauguration.
1972 - King also became a regular guest host for The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson, hosted the Oscars.
1988 - King was the first recipient of the award for American Jewish humor from the National Foundation for Jewish Culture. The award was subsequently renamed in his honor.
2004 - King died at the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in Manhattan on the 9th of May, after succumbing to lung cancer. He was 76.
