1928 - Burt Bacharach was born 12th of May in Kansas City, Missouri, USA.
Played piano in a high school dance band (in Queens, New York City) and studied piano and composition at Mannes School of Music, Berkshire Music Center, and McGill University (Montreal).
1950-1925 - Bacharach played the piano during his army service then worked as accompanist for Vic Damone and other singers.
1953-1958 - Married to Paula Stewart.
1957 - Teamed up with Hal David, who became his song-writing partner on most of his hits. Just a year after they had begun working together, the duo penned Perry Como's hit, 'Magic Moments' and ‘The Story of My Life'.
1958-1961 - Acted as musical director for Marlene Dietrich during her tours of Europe and the United States.
1970 - Continued to write for various artists over the last half-century, gave The Carpenters their hit single 'Close To You'.
1998 - Rhino released a three-disc retrospective of Burt Bacharach's work.
2006 - Recorded a jazz album together with Trijntje Oosterhuis and the Metropole Orchestra called The Look Of Love.
