1921 – He was born this year in in Knoxville, Iowa. His family moved to New Orleans in his childhood, where he was reared by his divorced mother.

 

1949 – He got a law degree from Tulane University. He worked for the FBI for two years and then returned to active duty with the National Guard.

 

1952 - He was relieved from duty. Army doctors concluded he had a "severe and disabling psychoneurosis. He was released from duty in October this year.

 

1954 – He worked for the New Orleans law firm Deutsch, Ketrigan & Stiles until he became an assistant district attorney from this year until 1958.

 

1959 – He was initially unsuccessful in his run for public office, losing this year’s election for criminal court judge.

 

1961 – He ran for district attorney, winning against incumbent Richard Dowling by 6,000 votes.

 

1962 – He’s on Newspaper headlines, and were full of his exploits, Quarter Crime Emergency Declared by Police, DA.

 

1963 - The eight judges charged him with misdemeanor criminal defamation, and Garrison was convicted in January this year.

 

1965 – The U.S. Supreme Court overturned the conviction and struck down the state statute as unconstitutional. He ran for reelection against Judge Malcolm O'Hara, he won with 60 percent of the vote.

 

1967 – He had businessman Clay Shaw arrested, charging him with being part of a conspiracy in the John F. Kennedy assassination.

 

1970 – He wrote three books about the Kennedy assassination, A Heritage of Stone was the first one.

 

1973 – He lost the office to Harry Connick, Sr.

 

1978 – He was then elected as a State of Louisiana Appeals Circuit Court Judge and served from this year until his death.

 

1987 – He also played himself in a cameo role in the film “The Big Easy.”

 

1988 - The Star Spangled Contract was his second book , and the best selling book, On the Trail of the Assassins was published this year. 1992 – He died this year.
